Cabin Baggage/Hand Carry

Confused about what you can bring on board in your bag? Find out more about the sizes, weight allowances and restrictions regarding cabin baggage/hand carry.

Any luggage or baggage that you take into our aircraft will be regarded as cabin baggage or hand carry. This includes your main cabin baggage and a personal bag (laptop bag or handbag, etc). Cabin baggage or hand carry is included as part of all our tickets and cannot exceed the 5 kg weight limit. Please note that children are also allowed the same cabin baggage or hand carry dimensions and weight.

You have to make sure that your cabin baggage/hand carry can be safely kept in the overhead cabin compartment or underneath the seat of our aircraft.

For your convenience and safety, we request that you follow the cabin baggage/ hand carry rules regarding the size and dimensions allowed on our aircraft:

  • The maximum weight allowed for the cabin baggage/ hand carry is 5 kg. Your cabin baggage/hand carry must be of the following dimensions: 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm (20 x 14 x 9ins). One passenger is allowed one cabin baggage/ hand carry.
  • In our ATR aircraft, your cabin baggage/hand carry must be safely and securely kept in the overhead cabin compartment. The doors of the compartment must be closed properly to ensure that your cabin baggage/hand carry does not fall and hurt people damage the bag and its contents.

Please note the items mentioned below are not allowed as cabin baggage or hand carry but can be kept in your check-in baggage.

  • Toy or replica plastic or metal guns.
  • Household cutlery like forks, knives, etc.
  • Paper cutter
  • Razor blades
  • Sporting bats like cricket bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks, etc.
  • Scissors
  • Nail cutter or nail clippers.
  • Lighters and matches
  • Aerosol sprays like hairspray, deodorant spray, etc.
  • Any items that are listed as dangerous goods

We request our passengers to follow the dimensions, weight allowance and list of restricted items not allowed in your hand carry or cabin baggage, or else it might not be accepted on board the aircraft. Any baggage that exceeds the weight and dimension limit will have to be flown as check-in baggage.

Please note that baggage is permitted after security check.

Check-in Baggage and Excess Baggage

Some items not allowed in the cabin baggage or hand carry can be packed in the check-in baggage. These include items like:

  • Nail cutter
  • Umbrella
  • Scissors
  • Sprays like deodorant, shaving foam, hairspray
  • Cosmetic items like mascara, lotions, perfumes, lip gloss, etc as there is a 100 ml limit on liquids for cabin baggage/hand carry.
  • Contact lens solution
  • Lighter
  • Trekking Poles
  • Sporting bats like cricket bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks, etc.
  • Household cutlery like forks, knives, etc.

Dangerous Goods / Banned Items/ Permissions and Restrictions

We are not a Dangerous Goods Carrier so any dangerous goods are strictly not allowed as cabin baggage or check-in baggage.

  • Compressed gases (flammable, non-flammable and poisonous)
  • Corrosives (such as acids, wet batteries)
  • Explosives, munitions, firework and articles which are easily ignited
  • Flammable liquids and solids (such as flammable aerosols, lighter or heating fuels, matches)
  • Oxidizing materials, poisons: radioactive materials
  • Other restricted articles (such as mercury, magnetic material, offensive or irritating materials)

Lost Damaged or Delayed Baggage

If your cabin baggage/hand carry or checked-in baggage has been lost, misplaced or damaged, immediately inform a Buddha Air representative at the airport. You will need to fill in a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) before you leave the airport premises. While filling in the form, please correctly indicate your flight details, baggage tag number, details of what your baggage looks like and your contact details.

Please note that damage or lost baggage has to be informed at the airport. Once you leave the airport premises, you accept the item as it is and you are not allowed to claim for damage or loss.
