Things First Time Travellers Need To Know In Nepal

Traveling can be nerve-wrecking, especially if you are traveling by air for the first time to a new destination. First time travelers will have a million questions in their minds and can’t stop but think about all the things that can go wrong. However, the truth is that traveling can be very fun and exciting if you learn the right tips and tricks.

Are you traveling for the first time to Nepal? Here are some things you need to know.

Book Your Flight Tickets in Advance

Booking your tickets early will ensure that you can get tickets at a cheaper rate. You can avoid high prices at the last minute by booking at least a week ahead before your trip. Advance booking will also mean that you will get better seats or window seats.

Use An App To Get More Benefits

Booking on apps can mean that you can get discounts and other offers. Many airlines have their own app, where if you book a ticket, you will get unique discounts that are provided for making the booking from the app. You can also get other benefits such as birthday discounts, miles accumulation or other offers from the app.

Download Your e-ticket

Instead of carrying around a large piece of paper to show your documents, download your e-ticket on your phone and show it to the concerned authorities at the security check. This will not only save you time, it will also prevent you from having to carry all sorts of documents while also trying to juggle your luggage.

Reach the airport an hour before the flight

Make sure that you reach the airport at least an hour before your flight. Road traffic in Nepal is unpredictable and you never know when you might get caught in a huge traffic jam, making you miss your flight. You can also check the status of the traffic on Google maps to learn if you need to change routes to the airport. Reaching the airport an hour early will also help you to check-in and settle down before the flight is announced.

Keep Your Official Identity Cards Handy

Carry your passport or official government identity cards in a place that you can easily take out. Domestic travel requires you to show a government approved identity card or a passport. So, make sure that you have it in a handbag.

Carry Luggage According To The Airport Guidelines

When buying your airline tickets, make sure to take a note of the allowed baggage weight. Each airline has different rules on the amount of baggage that you can carry. Extra baggage may be charged extra. So, if you don’t want to pay extra for the additional weights, weigh your bags beforehand and make sure that you are within the baggage range.

Do Not Carry Prohibited Items

Read the instructions carefully and make sure to not carry any prohibited items. Ask your airlines to learn about what items are prohibited in hand carry and your luggage. You don’t want to be wasting time discussing why your personal belongings cannot be taken on board.

Inform The Airlines For Special Assistance

If you require special assistance, make sure to pre-inform the airlines. Special assistance services such as wheelchairs are provided on request. But the request must be made at least one day in advance.

Keep Track of Departure Announcements

Keep track of departure announcements. Check the flight departure status or ask the staff regarding your flight. In case of flight delays, you will be informed.

Be Prepared for Flight Delays

Nepal can have a lot of flight delays due to the weather. Sometimes, flights can also get canceled, so make sure that you have scheduled your plans accordingly. Check the weather forecast to make sure that you know what to look out for.
