Ministry of Health Madidates New COVID-19 Travel Protocol

According to the recent press release published by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit (HEDMU) on 20th March 2022, all travelers visiting Nepal are mandated to follow the new COVID-19 protocol.

The Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit have listed the new protocol in regards to the COVID-19 test that will now be exercised in Tribhuvan International Airport where travelers are required to take a mandatory COVID-19 test in the following cases.

COVID-19 Travel protocols

- If the traveler lacks the double-dose vaccination or if he/she fails to produce 72 hours COVID-19 test report. (RT-PCR, True NAAT, Gene Xpert).

- In case of any symptoms of COVID-19 regardless of being fully vaccinated (RT-PCR, True NAAT, Gene Xpert) or having 72 hours COVID-19 test report all travelers are mandated to participate in the test.

- On the behalf of children above 5 years of age who aren’t fully vaccinated or failed to produce mandatory 72 hours COVID-19 test report (RT-PCR, True NAAT, Gene Xpert) or bears any symptoms of COVID-19 despite fulfilling the above-mentioned PCR report or fully vaccinated report should still undergo COVID-19 test at the airport.

Furthermore, the press release also briefs that in case of any obligation felt by the medical persons or officers stationed at Tribhuvan International Airport may request passengers to go through Rapid Antigen Test for the confirmation of COVID-19 or any transmissible disease.
