Nepal is well known for its trekking routes and each year there are new trails to be discovered. The Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek is one of the latest additions to the trekking trails of Nepal. It is a virgin trail recently explored by the Dharche Manaslu Tourism Development Committee, coordinated by the West Regional Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), and supported by Dharche Rural Municipality.
This trek falls towards the north-east of Gorkha and the western border of Dhading district. Located on the lap of Ganesh Himal, the trail is excellent for trekkers who seek wilderness adventures and to observe the beauty of himalayan view up close. The region is adorned with naturally rich flora and fauna, and has cultural and religious significance. The adventurous and exciting trail starts at Arkhet and ends at Dobhan.
Kanchi Dolma Holmo, a Mount Everest climber opined that the infrastructural development of Ganesh Himal base camp route will open the door to Ganesh Himal and Pavil Himal peak expedition and eventually attract international mountaineers from all over the world. Sane Gurung, President of DMTDC said, the newly explored trail has great potential and added new trekking products in Nepalese tourism sectors.

3rd Day: Manbu- Kasi Gaun 1914 m (6-7 hrs Trek)
4th Day: Kasi Gaun - Kerauja, 2108m (6-7 hrs Trek)
5th Day: Kerauja- Mabung Kharka 3024 m (4-5 hrs Trek)
6th Day: Mabung Kharka- Ganesh Kunda (7-8 hrs Trek)
7th Day: Explore Ganesh Kunda
8th Day: Ganesh Kunda-Veda Kharka 3939m 4103m (7-8 hr Trek)
9th Day: Veda Khrka to Runchet 1763 m (6-7 hrs Trek)
10th Day: Runchet - Hulchuk (1502m ( 4-5 hr Trek)
11th Day: Hulchuk – Yaru Bagar, 1320 m (5-6 hr)
12th Day: Yaru Phat- Jungtur Dada , 2647 m (5-6 hr)
13th Day: Jungtur dada-Kai Buk/Dhambakchet 3196 (7-8 hr Trek)
14th Day: Dhambakchet- Hechamba Kharka , 3848m m (7-8 hr)
15th Day: Hechamba Kharka - Juntur Dada , 2647 m ( 7-8 hr)
16th Day: Jungtur Dada – Dovan, 969m (7-8 hr)
17th Day : Dovan-Kathmandu Jeep/Bus Dive

The trek offers a stunning view of the world’s eighth tallest mountain, Mt. Manaslu (8163m) along with dozens of other mountains including Dr. Harka Chuli, Himachuli, Buddha Himal, Pangpoche, Chamar, Ganesh Himal, and Pavil Himal. The trail leads through the dense forests of Rhododendrons, Blue Pine and Juniper. The region has abundant herbal plants like Yarsagumba, Padamchal, Kudki, and mountain birds such as danphe, munal, and several other birds. There are religious ponds and amazing waterfalls along the trail as well.
This trek can be divided into two sections:
The first trail to Ganesh Kunda route goes from Kerauja to Mahung Kharka, Lambra Dada, Bungmarchet, Khark, Birim Dada, Mandrache, Sene Kang Pass (4235 m), Meghachet, and Ganesh Kund. The trail further leads to Meghachet, Sugpa Ble, Rongja Kang, Runchet and passes through Kalopokhari.
While on the second route from Dobhan, one can trek to Ganesh Himal Base Camp via Surti Bari, Seksuko Pass, Jungtur Dada, Kai Bung Dada, Dhambachet Kharka, Sugpa Kharka and Hechamba Kharka. Combining both trails will take over 2 weeks. However, it can be done separately too.
