Biratnagar Airport

Biratnagar Airport is a domestic airport in Morang district of Nepal. It is also known as Gograha Airport. It is located 5 km away from Biratnagar. Biratnagar is the industrial capital and quite a populated city of Nepal.

Biratnagar Airport was established on 6 July 1958. The surface of the runway is paved with concrete and has a length of 5000 ft. With an elevation of 236 ft, it is 370 km away from Kathmandu. For Biratnagar Airport, the IATA is BIR and ICAO is VNVT.

Major domestic airlines of Nepal operate daily flights to Biratnagar. Buddha Air has daily and direct flights from Kathmandu and Tumlingtar to Biratnagar. Biratnagar is the regional hub. It is the gateway to explore eastern Nepal and other major tourist destinations. Moreover, it is the centre of major industries. It is well known for Jute mills. Biratnagar Jute mills are the first large scale industry of Nepal.

Biratnagar Airport is expected to be upgraded to a regional international airport in the coming future. It has already been tested for the same.
