Protocol

Due to the COVID-19 impact and the threat of new variant a new travel regulation has been implemented for incoming and outgoing passengers from Nepal under the Infection Disease Act

According to the new travel regulation of Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre it is now requested for all passengers to fill the self-declaration form to ease contact tracing and avoid unnecessary gathering in the check-in counter during their travel. Please bring the issued barcode in a printed version or the screens

This procedure for sanitization of offices, shops, vehicles, and Ground Support Equipment has been developed for the prevention of transmission of COVID-19.

This procedure has been developed for preventive disinfection of aircraft cabin and other frequently touched aircraft parts by passengers during aircraft operation in the COVID-19 Pandemic period in line with Buddha Air COVID-19 Prevention Protocol and CAA Nepal Directive.

The well-being of our passengers and employees will always be our top priority. With a vision to have safer journeys together during the pandemic, we are introducing the Safe PAAS to travel program. Safe PAAS to travel is the acronym for Passenger – Airport – Aircraft – Staff. It is a COVID-19 safety protocol for your travel with Buddha Air.

How we sanitize & clean our aircraft

We have the utmost care for our passengers and employees. That is why our team is working tirelessly to maintain the highest standards of hygiene on board. Our team of experts has marked special areas in the aircraft that need better attention for cleanliness such as aisles, lavatories, galleys, flight deck, cabin attendant seats, and railings which will be thoroughly cleaned using standard disinfecting solutions approved by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and International Air Transport Association(IATA).

Covid-19 safety drill

Once we resume our operations, there will be new measures to help protect the health and safety of our passengers and employees. To make sure that these measures are implemented correctly, we have been conducting drills according to our protocol from a couple of weeks. The core motive for these drills is to educate and prepare employees for the new protocols that will be in place once we resume operations.

A covid-19 message from managing director

Mr. Birendra Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director of Buddha Air provides an update on the protocol and precautions Buddha Air is following right now and after we resume our operations. Safety is our top priority, and during this time, we have been busy preparing and implementing safety and cleanliness protocols to prevent the spread of the pandemic while flying with us. We have been teaming up with our ground staff, cabin crew, and other frontlines to practice the implementation of protocol twice a week for two months.

However, even if we’re not flying right now, our amazing Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are hard at work to keep our fleet safe and ready to fly. Safety will always be a priority at Buddha Air. Keeping our aircraft on the ground requires the same expertise and dedication as it does to keep it in air. From fixed-interval maintenance to long-term parking procedures, our Aircraft Maintenance Engineers make sure to follow all the inspections.

The aviation industry plays a critical role to deliver cargo during this unprecedented time of the pandemic. Buddha Air is proud to announce its readiness in becoming Nepal’s first commercial cargo flight carrying cargo, we strive to ensure valuable cargo is delivered to those who need them in Nepal. Our ATR aircraft can be modified to initiate cargo flights for medicine, medical equipment, and other essential items.We are ready to uplift freights from India, Bangladesh, and other countries in Southeast Asia.

COVID-19 FAQs

Considering everyone’s safety during a pandemic; passengers above age 70 are restricted from flying. Moreover, passengers with chronic health conditions that last 1 year or more and require ongoing medical attention or limit activities of daily living or both are also prohibited from flying.  

PCR Test for passengers traveling in domestic flights is not yet mandatory. However, if the ticket holder contains any symptoms related to COVID-19 then he/she will be forfeited from traveling and regarded as a no-show.

Buddha Air has all the necessary equipment to check the symptoms of COVID-19 and screening your temperature and making necessary queries to certain passenger’s health status will be executed. Besides, all passengers will be disembarked four at a time from the rear and loaded on the ramp bus at 75% seating capacity. Hence, we can assure that you will be safe with us.

Our counters will be closed 15 minutes before boarding, therefore all passengers will be informed accordingly to report at the airport at least 1 hour 30 minutes before flight time.

Due to the COVID-19 we are not allowing pets on flight, however, the decision is for the intervening period and will be announced until next notice. We regret for your inconvenience.

Yes, our staff will provide you with hand sanitizers in the counter. However, we request you to carry your personal one as well to avoid any risk of infection.

Airport restaurants are open with reduced operating hours and grab-and-go food service with strict social distancing measures at restaurants, coffee shop and other utilities.

Yes, it is mandatory for all passengers to wear mask in the airport premises and during the flight. Please make sure the mask you will be wearing is up to the standard and covers your mouth and nose suitably.

Due to COVID-19 no onboard catering services shall be made available, however, water shall be provided only upon the request.

Due to COVID-19 and its infections lavatory will be shut during the fight. We request passengers to use the lavatory available on the airport premises.

We strongly advise elderly, pregnant women and those with health complications to avoid air travel as these people are more vulnerable to infections. Furthermore, stringent screening will be done at the check-in counter to identify symptomatic and highly susceptible passengers, and they will be barred from flying for the health and safety of all concerned.

In case of passengers experiencing symptoms indicative of respiratory illness it is recommended to seek medical attention and share their travel history with their healthcare provider.
